COVID-19 Ministry Impact and Update

The entire world is reeling under the assault of this new virus, and none of us here at Bible Basics have escaped its baleful impact. Even as we implement the MISSIOSERVE ministry, we are facing unprecedented challenges. However, in the face of these challenges, the Kingdom of God still advances and we extend the worship of God to new people.

It Takes People:
to Serve the Senders and the Sent

We thank the Lord for the new mission staff He is gathering to increase our capacity to serve new churches and missionaries. Derek H. has served us well for the past year as our volunteer Director of Mission Fields. He is now building a partner support team to become full-time. Bill and Debby A. are veteran missionaries who served in Paraguay. They are working to increase their partner support team to join our MISSIOSERVE office. Their field experience and gifts are invaluable for shaping our agency to impact the worldwide mission of God. Brian W. is fully engaged in training our interns and new missionaries. He also needs a larger partner support team. Would you join one of these partner support teams and expedite the ministry of our new staff? Here is where you can set up your monthly support.

Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. Philippians 4:17-18 ESV

A NEW NAME COMING THIS SUMMER

The Board of Directors of Bible Basics International met on March 13, 2020. After discussing the implementation and momentum of the MISSIOSERVE Vision, they unanimously approved the use of "MISSIOSERVE Alliance" as the alternative name to be legally filed on behalf of Bible Basics International, Inc. This decision creates the use of "MISSIOSERVE Alliance" as the functional and public name of our ministry. It also retains the legal and organizational history, stability, and ministry purposes of Bible Basics International, Inc.

What does this mean?

We remain the same ministry organization that began in 1973, with the same doctrinal statement and maintaining the same commitments. We are making this adjustment to reflect the focus of our ministry's future.

Why is this important?

The emphasis and methods of ministry in 1973 began with presenting challenging Christian seminars in churches. By 1983, Keynote Ministries became Bible Basics International, with a writing emphasis through publishing, producing radio programs, and then building radio stations with a missions purpose. The MISSIOSERVE Vision prioritizes this missionary purpose. It expands the capacity and opportunities of our ministry to serve local churches in sending well-trained missionaries to mobilize workers with the Word and advance the Gospel to the unreached and unengaged. The MISSIOSERVE Alliance name will enhance the focus of our ministry emphasis in our new and growing introductions and relationships with churches, individuals, and ministries.

When will this happen?

You are among the first to know that the new name is coming. A public announcement will be made in early June to announce and inform churches, ministries, and individuals of the new MISSIOSERVE Alliance name. It will include the effective date of change later this year.

God is at work through various means and people, expanding the awareness and increasing the influence of Bible Basics through the MISSIOSERVE Vision as presented at our banquet in November 2018. The prayerful and dependent pursuit of this biblically-based philosophy of mission agency service is rooted in the responsibility, privilege, and priority of local churches sending missionaries to all nations. Our place is to serve and encourage churches and their missionaries by providing mission-specific knowledge, experience, and resources. We will help them to accomplish their purpose in advancing the Gospel to the unreached and unengaged.

Your generosity and faithful prayers are increasing the momentum of the MISSIOSERVE Vision. We are grateful for the addition of new staff missionaries, national partners, and long-term missionaries who will take us to new parts of the world. We are pleased with the reorganization of Base BĂblica Honduras, the excitement around Blossom Creek, and the participation in our renewed intern program. We believe the IGNITE your church ministry, the implementation of the Discover, Develop, and Deploy training program, and the expansion of MoBiL to new continents will bear much fruit.

We believe MISSIOSERVE Alliance will provide greater clarity and focus as we seek to extend the worship of God by serving the senders and the sent, mobilizing workers with the Word, and advancing the Gospel to the unreached and unengaged.

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
Romans 12:12

Like the rest of you, the few months and particularly the last month have not gone at all like we had planned.  We know many plans have been postponed or canceled altogether, causing a great sadness for many. Church services, weddings, birthday parties, and graduation ceremonies are no longer being held, including the graduation from college of our two oldest children. They both had to come home about a month ago and there are now no plans for any graduation festivities which has saddened us all, as we had much to look forward to in that regard. We can be assured that our God is in control of all things.

When we left Paraguay last August, we had every intention of returning to Paraguay this year. We had no way of knowing what awaited us during our home assignment, not the least of which is this covid-19.

In our first month of being stateside, Bill was asked to consider a position at Ethnos360 in Sanford, Florida. We shared this news with our church elders, prayed, and considered that position. Shortly after that offer, Bill was approached with an opportunity to serve with MissioServe, formerly known as Bible Basics International (BBI), a ministry based here on our side of Florida. Our knee-jerk reaction to that offer was “no”, which we told them but our spirits were not at peace within us.

However, we need to go back a bit. As you may or may not remember, our sending church pastor stepped down a month before our arrival in Paraguay. We were surprised by his announcement but found a local church willing to take us on, as a result of an existing relationship with the pastor of that church. A month after our arrival to Paraguay, our former church completely folded.

These past months while on home assignment, we have begun to get to know our “new” sending church and its elders. Through this time, they have taken on a greater role in the direction of our ministry. As we’ve been seeking their prayers and counsel, they came to a unanimous consensus that we should serve with MissioServe, but still left the ultimate decision with us. As we sought Scripture and prayed about what being sent out from a local church should look like, we were convinced that we should join MissioServe in submission to our church leadership.

We have formally announced our resignation from Ethnos360, but as in all things, we trust that God is sovereignly leading and guiding us. Pray with us that we will submit well to His ways. Our time with Ethnos360 will officially come to an end on June 30th. We have much to work through during this transition and greatly appreciate your patience and continued prayers on our behalf. We are working through details with both ministries in the hopes of making a smooth transition. Be looking for our next update in which we will share the where, when, and how’s. We hope and pray that your prayers and support will continue with us. We imagine that this announcement has taken many of you by great surprise. Please do not hesitate to ask us your questions. Reach us by phone, text, email, or even messenger, whichever way is most convenient for you.

At some point in our lifetime, you told us that you would like to follow our ministry. You told us that you would pray for us as we "GO ye......" and that you would rejoice with us as GOD moves in ways that will leave us all, in amazement at HIS greatness. Thank you for being part of our team!
